Can someone tell me how much of my salary I could get on disability? How do I apply for it? I am exhausted and do not think I am going to make it at work. Embarrassed

It depends, do you have a disability insurance policy at work, most of them pay 60% of your salary tax free, me, I was stupid, I left my job of 24 years and I did have a disability insurance policy, all I had to do was be off six months without pay and it would have kicked in, but I was just too sick and tired and ticked off because everyone at work treated me like crap because I was too sick to be there, after all those years and never missing any time, then I got sick and everyone started ragging me so I just quit.  Now I'm going to have to go for Social Security Disability, you can find out your monthly income from that by looking at the form they send out a few months before your birthday, it tells you if you are to become disabled now it will pay x amount of dollars.  It's not huge money but my family has had to cut back on lots of things since I became ill and we are living on just my husbands salary so that extra money every month will be a big plus and we can untighten the belt a little bit.  Don't know if that helps or not...

Thanks, things are tight already even though I have been a teacher with a master's degree for 23 years. I don't know what I will do. Huh

I definitely can't quit. I have to get my energy to a point where I can work. Since I posted this I have been on a paid medical leave and have to go back on December 1. I am hoping that i will be ok see a new doctor next week and am hopeful that he will offer some treatment.
