so what's the difference between cfs, cebv and post viral fatigue..Cause every forum for these conditions all the symptoms seem to be the same, so it's very confusing..I got mono, now I am tired all the time, and i'll be going back to the Dr. soon enough, so i hope to get some answers then...But it seems just based on what I'm reading online there's no difference between all these conditions, kinda confusing.

symptom-wise there isn't much of a difference.... although people with CFS tend to get severe muscle fatigue in addition to feeling sleppy... but some of us with CEBV get that too (at least i do, can't even wash my hair w/o taking a break..) the difference comes in with the cause- CEBV is caused by Epstein-Barr virus, CFS may be caused by a virus or it may be auto-immune or ?, research hasn't really shown a definite cause yet, and post-viral could be caused by any virus that your body has just fought off, not just EBV... so if you had mono then you either have CEBV or post-viral fatigue, and i *think* that the difference there comes with duration of the symptoms, i think post-viral fatigue can stretch about 18 months after the mono, whereas CEBV can go for years... hope that helps a little

As long as I've been on this forum, I STILL get confused. I was diagnosed with CEBV, then later CFS.

oh that's a good point too Pat - not all Doctors and researchers agree on these things either... some don't even believe CEBV exists  Roll Eyes

Pat,
Me too.  EBV then CFS.  Those PCP's are great aren't they?   I really had Lyme.

Hello Pat, Elaine & All,
the Hemotologist/Pathologist that has been treating me said most people with Chronic EBV also acquire CFS because the immune system is so weak from the EBV fight.  Don't know if he is right, but he has seen that pattern in 70% of his patients with CEBV.  I am slowly feeling better, less brain fog, a little more energy but still lots of muscle aches.  Hope you all are feeling better too !
