15800cc, my chest x-ray showed the pneumonia had cleared. I'm not aware of any mold contact but I do know how devastating that can be. I called my dr today to get them to mail me a copy of the lab tests...Pat in Texas, my neurologist is the one who suggested I get my ebv levels checked and she said it's like having a controlled fire in your body. Not a raging fire like "mono", but not put out either...sooooo I gu es :Ds I'll just keep digging. Thank you for your input and comments! :D

tired2themax,

I think my last blood test showed neg for 'active' and pos for 'reactivated' too. What does that mean anyway?  :-\

Check for mycoplasma's especially if you have inflammation in the chest.   Possibly the pneumonia is lingering???

Have you been exposed to mold, that would irritate the chest, also.

If you doctor did not use a tick speciality lab like Igenex, Clongen Laboratories  or Fry Lab, your Lyme test is questionable.   Ask if you had any positive bands on the Western Blot and which ones were positive.

Just got my bloodwork back, negative for lupus, ra, and lyme. CMV igm was also negative, igg was positive over 18(over 1 is pos). So another virus memory in my immune system????? Dr.wants me to see a pulmonary specialist since pulm. function test showed inflammation. Has anyone else had these results? Just wondering? (if you've never read  my other posts, 3 of the ebv virus levels were off the charts. One for"active" was negative, but re-activated was pos??? So confused!!!

Went to my amazing new/old doctor yesterday. Fever 99.4 after 2 weeks on 2 different antibiotics. She sent me for 2 more chest x-rays and a pulmonary function test. X-ray showed pneumonia had cleared, pft showed evidence of inflammation, gave me a breathing treatment. She also said the reason my ebv remains so elevated is there IS something wrong with my immune system. She tested me for lyme disease, cmv, lupus,ra, and also checking my ana. Hopefully we will find some answers.  If your doctor isn't listening to you, fire them! I hope everyone has a great weekend and a fun and safe halloween!

UPDATE: I just went to an Infectious Disease Dr. who did a sputum culture and I have Strep B. I'm not sure if that is what is causing the mono to reactivate. I am feeling better since taking the antibiotics though.

Everyone make sure you get tested for co-infections.

tiredtothemax It sounds like you might have pneumonia. I would ask for a sputum culture.

hugs to everyone!

I have also had a cough for the past 2 months following a cold. Waited until I had been dealing with it for 3 weeks because I knew my dr.would say "it's a virus" so, I've finished a z-pack, no better, one week down on a round of doxycyclene. Oh my chest x ray was "suspicious"for pneumonia. I'm actually going to the dr again today (my amazing dr.who moved) so hopefully she will have some better ideas than this last one who had none!

Hello I've been suffereng from EBS for many years but it wasn't chronic before, now it is. I've developed the same symptoms that you described and this morning was on line researching and came across Chlamydia pneumoniae. I have most of the symptoms including chills and severe sweating, I am going for an X-Ray tomorrow morning and will go from there.

I am totally new at and I am by no means a doctor but all of the reading I have been doing tells me it could have a lot to do with a regular bug you may have very easily caught since your immune system is more suseptable now to these things.  It could be a bug that is going around this (or that) time of the year and now that you are sick it just seems that in the back of your mind you feel that maybe you are giving your illness to others.  I never had this much post nasal drip or sneezing in my entire life before this.  I wake up in the middle of the night with a sneezing fit and my nose is all stopped up.  Smells bother me now that never bothered me before.  This illness is crazy.  It keeps taking on different characteristics and it is driving me nuts.  You are not alone.  Hang in there and don't let anyone run you away from your job or make you feel like you don't belong just becuase you are ill.

It also could be mold in either your living area or your place of employment.  Might be something you want to check out.

I worked in that office for about 18 mos. I begged the infectious dz. dr to test me for influenza via nasal swab and it was negative.

The reason I believe it is contagious: my DD and DH have becoming down with repeated symptoms like mine, sneezing, cough, fatigue.

My co worker that helped me move into my office came down with a flu right after helping me and was sick for a week. Then after I started working there people were complaining and calling in sick all the time.

I recently went for jury duty and no one in the jury pool appeared sick. A couple days later the lawyer I was sitting close to became sick with a cough, etc.

I know that there are a lot of illnesses going around and this sounds crazy.

But people around me getting sick with my symptoms all the time. It's too much to be coincidental.

I'm wondering what else could be wrong with me and if I should go for more testing.

How long did you work there? WAs it allergy season? Winter? Also remember that a lot of illnesses are psychological- your co-workers could have "felt" sick just because you did
I've had CEBV for -omg- almost 16 years now and I have all the symptoms you listed, but I'm not sure its all CAUSED by CEBV directly, the virus really messes with your immune system leaving you really susceptible to sinus infections- which CAN be contagious. I was treated with repeated antibiotics for years, but sinus infections are often viral so antibiotics dont work. After a while it becomes Chronic Sinusitis and i dont think its so contagious at that point, because the people around me never seem to get sick. I've had CT scans to check my sinuses for mold, you might want to look into that.

Your symptoms sound a lot like mine.  I had mono almost three years ago and had a terrible cough with it.  Now, it seems especially when I am worn out, not getting enough sleep or whatever, I cough.  Usually when my cough is bad, I am more fatigued than usual (or maybe vise versa).   I have not been to the dr in a while, as I have been feeling better and the coughing spells seems to be fewer, so I have no idea what my EBV numbers are right now.  I did go to a dr over a year ago for lung testing - for asthma in particular, but all test were negative and I was told my lungs were fine.

I wonder if the cough, drip, sneezing is indeed related to EBV.  I have wondered too, if my allergies to certain things like mold are worse now - maybe unrelated to EBV...  The roof leaks in the building where I work and I know that can't be good.  I have had fussy sinuses for a while, but I do think it is all worse since having mono.  I don't think you are contagious, probably a coincidence that your co-workers seemed sick while you were there.  Also, the power of suggestion can be very strong.

Good luck with finding out what the root of your cough is.  If you get a diagnosis, post it here;  I would be interested.

Samantha

Symptoms of chronic cough, post nasal drip, sneezing, fatigue

Hi,
I'm new here and just diagnosed with CEBV. I've had symptoms of cough, post nasal drip and sneezing for a good while now.  I went to work in an office and people around me were complaining of new symptoms of cough, post nasal drip, sneezing. I quit work and after I left the people in my office told me they weren't sick after I left. Please bear with me I know this sounds kind of out there.

I recently saw an Infectious dz Dr. who tested me for Lupus, EBV, and Influenza.

I tested positive for EBV as my IGG was 8.0 and negative for Lupus and Influenza.

I feel ok to work but I'm worried that I might have something other than EBV that is airborne/highly contagious. Should I go back to the my Dr. and ask for more testing. He seemed pretty content with the diagnosis.

Anyone have any advice or experience?
